Who?
Robin Hendry (Siret no: 538 351 404 00016) former teacher and part time hobby woodturner, now living and working in France as an Auto Entrepreneur artisan woodturner.
Bowls, platters, goblets, lidded boxes, jewellery, kitchen scoops, spatulas, towel holders, meat tenderizers and many other decorative and practical turned objects.
Local species used include oak, lime, sweet chestnut, hornbeam, birch, hawthorn, elm, holly, ash and horse chestnut. Some wood recycled from windows, doors and roof timbers is used. These may include nail holes or discoloration according to their previous usage.
Why?
To use managed woodland of the village to provide a variety of sustainable sources for producing decorative and useful items. Shavings and sawdust from the product are recyled through composting or mulching.
When?
Since the start of 2012 - alongside renovation of the farmhouse and outbuildings, and working the 2 acre smallholding.
Where?
In the commune of Lourdoueix-St-Pierre (23) in the Limousin region.
Working in a fully equipped workshop situated in the former piggery.
