About us

Bois de Bessolles is a new enterprise, which has grown from a life-long passion for working with wood. Since the age of seven, making wooden model aircraft, boats and toys with his father and brother, Robin Hendry has loved the tactile nature of wood and the variety of methods available for working with it.

His career took him in other directions, spending more than thirty years teaching music, but when retirement approached, he decided that the time had come to follow his first love.  He quickly re-discovered his talent for woodturning and began producing beautifully crafted items.

He now works in a fully equipped workshop in the grounds of his home in Bessolles, in the Creuse department of central France, turning decorative items such as bowls, vases, platters and goblets, as well as
kitchen utensils such as spatulas, scoops and meat tenderizers.  His range of products is expanding almost daily.

Robin is keenly aware of the importance of trees to the environment, and uses mainly locally sourced wood from coppiced and pollarded trees.  He also has a policy of planting saplings on his own land as a resource for future generations.

The business can truly claim to be 'Bois de Bessolles'!
